Key Stage 5 (Years 12 & 13)
Year 12
The minimum requirement for doing Biology at the AS level is an A grade at GCSE. We offer the OCR A
S Biology syllabus where pupils are taught the following modules:
- Unit 1 (F211) Cells, Exchange and transport 30%
- Unit 2 (F212) Molecules, biodiversity, Food and Health 50%
- Unit 3 (F213) Practical skills Qualitative, Quantitative and Evaluative 20%
The Percentages is how much each module is worth towards the AS grade.
Year 13
Pupils who decide to carry on studying Biology in Year 13 will continue with the OCR A level Biology syllabus, being taught the following modules:
- Unit 1 (F214) Communication, homeostasis and energy 30%
- Unit 2 (F212) Control, genomes and environment 50%
- Unit 3 (F213) Practical skills, Qualitative, Quantitative and Evaluative 20%
