The Senior Management Team

The Headmaster works closely with a Senior Management Team (SMT), which shares the collective responsibility for all aspects of School leadership and management.

The structure of the SMT is designed to allow for flexibility in assigning strategic and day-to-day responsibilities. The new management role of Assistant Head may include a specific post such as Head of Middle School or Director of Studies, but allows for a whole-school strategic responsibility, ‘assisting' the Head in the wider leadership and management of the School.

The current SMT consists of:

  • 2 Deputy Heads
  • 5 Assistant Heads
  • the Head of the Junior School
  • the Bursar of the Senior and Junior Schools

Each member is directly accountable to the Headmaster for his/her specific responsibilities.

Members of the SMT are also assigned specific responsibilities associated with their post. These responsibilities may be reviewed at any time. The Bursar and Head of the Junior School will be listed separately under their own management handbooks.

In summary, the SMT has overall collective responsibility for the efficient daily running and sound discipline of the School, the pastoral care of all pupils and staff and implementing an agreed whole school development plan. SMT members also have specific responsibilities and some have direct responsibility for pastoral care in a section of the School.
