**Professor Ajay K Kakkar**
Position: Chairman of the Governing Board, Chairman of the Strategy Committee, Member of Finance Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 10 years. Biography: Professor Kakkar is Professor of Surgical Science and Dean for External Affairs; Barts;The London Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry; Consultant Surgeon, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Director Designate, Thrombosis Research Institute in London. He is a former pupil (Roper's 1977–1982) and School Captain 1981–1982. Qualifications: BSc, MBBS (Hons), PhD, FRCS

**Mrs Angela Brownbill**
	Position: Deputy Chairman of the Governing Board. Chairman of Development and Education Committee, Member of Strategy Committee, Finance Committee. She is the School's nominated Trustee on the Board of the Dulwich Estate. Length of Service on Governing Board: 15 years. Biography: Angela was one of the first girls who attended Alleyn's when she joined the Sixth Form in the late 1970s. Since then Angela has maintained her links with the School, serving as an officer of the Edward Alleyn Club (being elected President in 2000), and as a Trustee of the Alleyn Benelovent Fund. Angela also founded, and continues to run, the EAC's drama section, the Burbage Theatre Company, which performs regularly at Alleyn's. Angela is a solicitor and partner in Hill Dickinson LLP, practising in the city of London. She specialises in insurance-based litigation, particularly professional indemnity and regulatory work. **Mr Iain Barbour**
Position: Member of Finance Committee Length of Service on Governing Board: Newly Appointed. Biography: Iain was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford and Hull University; he lives in London, where he works as a Managing Director at MBIA, an insurance company specialising in the guaranteeing of credit risk primarily across the public sector. Iain's career has spanned three decades in the city, during which time he has worked for some of the world's leading financial institutions; he continues to serve on the Board of the European Securitisation Forum (Chairperson 2004/5), and has served on the Board of the Bond Markets Association (now SIFMA). He maintains a keen interest in drama, serving as a member of the Development Board of the Almeida Theatre, and sport. Iain has three daughters who have been / are being educated at Alleyn's (2001 -). Qualifications: BSc Econ (Hons); ACIB (Chartered Institute of Bankers)

**Dr E Frances Bowen**
	Position: Member Development and Education Committee and member of the Strategy Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 1 Year Biography: Educated at Alleyn's 1977-1984, Spurgeons House Captain & School Vice-Captain 1983-84 then studied medicine at the Royal Free Hospital, London. After junior medical rotations Frances was appointed MRC Fellow back at the Royal Free where her work led to a PhD in molecular virology in AIDS patients. Frances completed her training as a physician thereafter and was appointed to Consultant Physician at the Hammersmith Hospital at the age of 32 in 1999. There Frances set up a very successful rapid assessment and treatment service for patients with lung cancer. Appointed to Head of Department of Respiratory Medicine Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospital. Frances is now Chief of Service for Clinical Infection & Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Qualifications: BsC, MBBS (Hons) PhD FRCP

**The Lady Butler of Brockwell**
Position: Member of the Development and Education Committee Length of Service on Governing Board: 1 Year Biography: Jill Butler was educated at Tunbridge Wells County Grammar School and St Hugh's College Oxford. She followed a career in teaching at St Paul's Girls' School (1961-1964), the London School of Economics (1971-1974) and then at Alleyn's School where she taught Mathematics for 25 years during which the school became fully co-educational. She was the first woman Housemaster (Brown's House), and her daughter, Nell, was in the second entry of girls in Year 7. She now has a grand daughter in the Year 1 of the Junior School. In 1998 her husband Lord Butler of Brockwell was appointed to be Master of University College, Oxford which meant moving from Herne Hill. They left University College in 2008 and are now living in Westminster. Qualifications: BA (Oxon)

**Mr Martin Fosten**
	Position: Member of Development and Education Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 7 years. Biography: Taught Business Studies and Economics at Alleyn's for 23 years and was Housemaster of Roper's for 18 years. Martin Fosten was invited to join the Alleyn's Governing body shortly after becoming the Academic and Pastoral Principal of the Royal Ballet School. He has a particular brief to represent the interests of Alleyn's staff from both the Senior and Junior Schools. Qualifications: BA (Hons), PGCE

**Mr Tim Franey**
Position: Member of Development and Education Committee, and the Strategy Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 10 years. Biography: Educated at Dulwich College and Loughborough. Two sons at Alleyn's from 1986 to 1997.Career in transport, manufacturing and retail. Built up a private group of companies located in various locations in England specialising in distribution, warehousing and engineering. Sold the group in 1987 and then became a director of public companies in the motor distribution and retail sectors. Remained in these positions until 2000. Recently involved in commercial and private property investment and development, both in the UK and the United States. Qualifications: FIMI (Fellow of the Motor Industry)

**Mr Paul George**
	Position: Chairman of the Finance Committee and member of the Strategy Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 6 years. Biography: Paul George is the Director of the Professional Oversight Board, the body established by the Government to provide independent oversight of the accounting and actuarial professions. Prior to taking up this role Paul was an audit partner with KPMG and, more recently, a director of a publicly quoted consultancy business specialising in helping companies improve their operational effectiveness. Qualifications: BSc, ACA

**Mr Colin Holloway**
Position: Member of Development and Education Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 10 years. Biography: Educated at Christ's College, Cambridge; PGCE; Exeter University. Taught at University College School, Hampstead (1959-1976), rising to Third Master. Headmaster of King's College Junior School, Wimbledon (1976-1988). Chairman of IPAS (1994-1995) and Vice President (1998-2001). Chairman of Governors, The Study Prep School, Wimbledon, and Ripley Court School, Surrey. Governor of Alleyn's School, Dulwich and University College School. Governor of three other independent and maintained schools. Area of expertise: educational consultant, especially advising on the appointment and appraisal of Head Teachers. Qualifications: MA, PGCE, FRSA

**Mr James Murray**
	Position: Member of Finance Committee, Strategy Committee and Edward Alleyn Building Steering Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 6 years. Biography: Educated at Dulwich College and Pembroke College Cambridge then qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse. Finance Director of Land Securities PLC (1991-2001). Non-Executive Director of UK Coal PLC (2003-2006). Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Audit Committee Wolseley PLC since 2003, Chairman of Trustees of Land Securities Pension Fund since 2001. Justice of the Peace since 2005. Qualifications: MA, FCA, JP

**Mr Philip Perry**
Position: Member of Development & Education Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: newly appointed. Biography: Philip was educated at Alleyn's from 1958-1966. He was a School Prefect and House Captain of Roper's. He studied for a Business Degree and subsequently qualified as a solicitor. Philip has practised as a lawyer in the City of London since 1975 and has been, and continues to be, a leading member of one of the largest international global law firms. Qualifications: BA (Hons), Solicitor

**Mr Iain Pulley**
	Position: Member of the Finance Committee. Length of Service on Governing Board: 1 Year Biography: Iain is the Worshipful Company of Saddlers' representative on the Governing Board, following both his father and brother in this role. Iain was Master of the Saddlers' Company 2007-8. A keen athlete in his youth, Iain's original career was in marketing posts at Reader's Digest and Financial Times, after which he co-owned an international legal, business and technical publishing company, later sold to Wolters Kluwer. This included a US subsidiary he had started. Since then, he has built-up a specialist database software business and bureau, mainly for the publishing and travel industries. He also runs periodic marketing courses for such organisations as the Periodical Publishers' Association. Qualifications: Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing

**Mrs Diana Rawstron**
Position: Clerk to the Governors. Length of Service on Governing Board: 5 years. Biography: Diana Rawstron is a solicitor in private practice and her area of expertise includes trusts and charities. She was a partner and is now a consultant with Goodman Derrick LLP. She has an interest in further education and is Chair of the Board of Governors of Richmond Adult Community College. Qualifications: LLB (Hons) 1966, Solicitor (Hons) 1972
