Dulwich Society Garden Group Annual Talk held at Alleyn's
The Dulwich Society fosters the amenities of Dulwich, and its Gardens committee supports gardening and related activities in the area. Each year it publishes “Dulwich Gardens open for charity”, with details of the local gardens open to the public. It also organises an annual talk and a coach visit.
This year's talk was on the topic of front gardens and there were three presentations on the evening from speakers Pamela Johnson, Nigel Watts and Anthony Noel. The evening was attended by some 90 members of the Dulwich Society. "Also excellent were the facilities at Alleyn’s, with a well-equipped lecture theatre and an ideal space for members to enjoy refreshments after the talk."
Rhythm for Reading Project
Five of our Year 12 students are now in place as mentors for the project being run by the Education Endowment Foundation. They will work with Year 5 pupils at Goodrich Primary School in Southwark.
We were delighted in May to welcome Bishop Jeremiah and his wife Susan from Kenya. Bishop Jeremiah helps run a school for disadvantaged children. They spent time in the Junior School, and then with Miss Carlsson, our International Links Co-ordinator, and with Dr Savage. And they very much enjoyed one of Mr Reid's RS lessons.
Resources for Autism
During term-time the group meets at Alleyn’s on a Sunday from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. and during the holidays they host specialist play schemes that typically run for a for few weeks at a time.
