Lifeguard, Pool Management & Swimming Courses
A range of lifeguarding, pool management and swimming courses are held at Alleyn's throughout the year.
Alleyn’s Swim School
The intensive swimming lessons take place during the school holidays between 09.00 and 11.00 for children aged 5 years and above. Separate Adult swimming classes also run during these times.
Courses are open to all and are filled on a first come, first served basis. Lessons are 30 minutes long, at a cost of £8 per class and classes lasting 4 or 5 days depending on Bank Holidays.
Class sizes are small (between 6 – 8 pupils per teacher) to ensure plenty of individual tuition for each swimmer. Teachers will accompany non-swimmers in the water and aim to provide an environment which is fun, warm, friendly and enjoyable. Parents are welcome to watch their children swim from our first-class spectator area which overlooks the pool.
The course covers all elements of pool rescue techniques, lifeguarding theory, first aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool.
NPLQ Super Lifeguard
The NPLQ Super Lifeguard Course covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid, CPR, AED and PXB. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ is in three sections and all must be successfully passed to attain the qualification.
