All members of Year 6 took part in the annual online Junior Memory Challenge competition earlier this term. This competition is run by the Learning Skills Foundation. The Learning Skills Foundation is an independent charitable organisation devoted to improving the quality of learning. It raises funds for scientific research, public lectures and policy development in the revolutionary field of educational neuroscience and for other academic research programmes that will lead to the discovery of new learning techniques.
We were delighted when we heard that Sophie and Toby scored highly enough to qualify them for the final which was held online, in school, on 30 July. Over 25,000 pupils from up and down the country took part in this competition with only 20 children making it through to the final.
The tasks include the study and recall of: numbers, names of people, words and text in a particular order. Toby proved that he really does have a brilliant memory as he was awarded first place. Huge congratulations go out to him. Sophie came a very respectable 9th overall so she too has an excellent memory. A silver trophy and prize is being sent so that Toby can be crowned Junior Memory Champion 2021 in front of his peers. Well done Toby!
