Alleyn's School students are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results:
Head Jane Lunnon said, “I’m absolutely delighted that this wonderful group of young people have achieved our second highest set of exam-tested GCSE results ever. With their commitment to progress, support of one another and their real joy in learning, these results were never in doubt and it is a testament to their embodiment of the Alleyn’s School values: Respect, Opportunity, Curiosity, Courage and Kindness.
“At a time when we are reflecting deeply on the requirements of the future world of work, and how we can prepare our pupils for this, it is very important to us that our GCSE results show a strength across STEM, the humanities, languages and the arts, as well as fantastic outcomes across practical subjects including Food and Nutrition, Dance and Drama.
“It is especially pleasing in the year the Alleyn’s is celebrating 50 years of coeducation to see an equal mix of girls and boys in those achieving a straight flush of Grade 9s, and both the boys’ and girls’ cohort achieving an average grade of more than an 8. And it is always wonderful to celebrate a strong set of results from bursary recipients.”
The results include some pupils from Years 9 and 10 achieving Grade 9s in Maths and languages taken early. They follow last week’s strong results in A Level which saw two thirds of Alleyn’s School A Level students achieve straight As and As*, and 13% heading to Oxbridge.
