A Level French Cinema Trip

On Saturday 26th September, students studying French A Level in Years 12 and 13 enjoyed a very special double-bill screening of La Bataille de Gaulle at the Ciné Lumière, IFRU, in South Kensington. The two films together, Résistance (Part 1) and Liberté (Part 2) follow General Charles de Gaulle's trials and tribulations from the armistice in June 1940 up until the liberation of Paris in August 1944. After the first film, we participated in a Q&A with the director, Antonin Baudry, and actors, including the phenomenal French-Armenian actor, Simon Abkarian, in the lead role.

As part of the Year 13 French A Level course, students study occupied France, the Vichy Regime and the Resistance, and this 7-hour marathon event afforded them a unique opportunity to better understand this period. Our sincere thanks to the Schools and Education Department at IFRU for facilitating group tickets for this memorable evening.
