Mr Iain BarbourAlleyn's Governor Iain Barbour

Position: 

Chair and ex-officio member of all committees. Governor Representative for AGBIS and Chair of Alleyn's School Enterprises Limited.

Biography: 

Iain was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford and Hull University; he lives in London and works at Bishopsfield Capital Partners, where he advises institutional investors financing the development and operation of infrastructure and other projects. Iain's career has spanned three decades in the City during which time he has worked for some of the world's leading financial institutions. Iain is an Independent Non-Executive Director at DBRS, a global rating agency. Iain maintains a keen interest in drama and sport. Iain has three daughters who were educated at Alleyn's between 2001 and 2012.

Dr E Frances BowenAlleyn's Governor Dr Frances Bowen

Position: 

Deputy Chair, Chair of the Education Committee and member of the Strategy & Governance Committee. Governor with particular responsibility for the Junior School and for Safeguarding.

Biography: 

Educated at Alleyn's 1977-1984, Spurgeon’s House Captain and School Vice-Captain 1983-84, then studied medicine at the Royal Free Hospital, London. After junior medical rotations Frances was appointed MRC Fellow back at the Royal Free where her work led to a PhD in molecular virology in AIDS patients. Frances completed her training as a physician thereafter and was appointed to Consultant Physician at the Hammersmith Hospital at the age of 32 in 2000 and became the Trust lung cancer lead. In 2005 she became lead clinician for respiratory medicine and then in 2008 chief of service for clinical infection and respiratory medicine. In 2015 Dr Bowen became clinical director for acute and specialist medicine at Charing Cross Hospital where she still works clinically in fast track respiratory clinics and takes part in the acute medical on call rota. In 2018 Dr Bowen was appointed interim divisional director of medicine and integrated care and a member of the executive management team. The division is responsible for 3,200 staff and has an annual budget of £200 million.

Mr Mark BishopAlleyn's Governor Mark Bishop

Position:

Biography:  

Mark was educated at Charterhouse School before graduating from St Edmund Hall, Oxford. He began his teaching career at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford where he was both a Head of Department and Head of Year. Subsequently he became Deputy Head at Caterham School, a co-educational day and boarding school in Surrey before being appointed as Head of Trinity School, Croydon in 2006. He has been a Governor of several schools and for many years was an ISI Inspector. After 30 years of teaching, 10 of which as Head, he then became the Chief Executive of Perrett Laver, a global Executive Search firm. In 2018 he returned to the world of education and is currently Executive Principal of YK Pao School, Shanghai. He is married with two children.

Dr Madeleine CampbellAlleyn's Governor Dr Madeleine Campbell

Position: 

Member of the Education Committee.

Biography:

Educated at Alleyn’s (1979-1986), where she was School Captain. Madeleine completed a degree in Modern History and Economics at Oxford before qualifying as a Veterinary Surgeon (BVetMed) with Honours in 1996 (The Royal Veterinary College). She subsequently undertook a PhD in Equine Reproduction, 2003 (London University). Madeleine was recognised as a Veterinary Specialist in Equine Reproduction by the European College of Animal Reproduction (2003) and The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (2006), and as a European Diplomat in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law (2015). She also obtained a MA in Medical Ethics and Law from Keele University, 2012. 

Madeleine combines her work as a Clinical Specialist in Equine Reproduction with teaching and researching Human: Animal Interactions and Ethics through an academic appointment at The Royal Veterinary College.

Mr Kevin DouglasAlleyn's Governor Kevin Douglas

Position: 

Member of the Education Committee. Governor with particular responsibility for the Junior School.

Biography: 

Former Headmaster of University College School, Junior Branch, Hampstead (2001 - 2014). Educated at Lady Manners School, Bakewell. Trained as a teacher in Biology and Physical Education at Loughborough University. Played rugby for England Universities and England U23 whilst at Loughborough. After moving to London he taught at QE Boys School, Barnet whilst playing for Harlequins and then Saracens. He was twice in the winning side at the Middlesex 7’s tournament.

Deputy Head at Belmont, Mill Hill for ten years before taking up the UCS post. Mr Douglas was an ISI inspector for ten years and is currently the Chairman of iTrust, the IAPS Educational Charity. He was an IAPS Mentor for three years after he retired. He is married to Margaret, has three married daughters and, at the moment, six grandchildren.

Mr Jon LillyAlleyn's Governor Jon Lilly

Position:

Member of the Education Committee, the Strategy Committee and the Nominations Committee. Governor Representative on the Health and Safety Committee.

Biography:

Jon was educated at Wyggeston Boys’ Grammar School and later Leicester and Southampton University, where he read History. He undertook his PGCE at the Institute of Education, London University and was appointed to teach History at Alleyn’s in 1974. He introduced the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, tutored at all levels in the School and coached football, basketball and badminton. He organised the School timetable for many years, before being appointed Assistant Head (Director of Studies) and finally Deputy Head (Pastoral and Personnel). He retired in 2013. His son and daughter were both educated at Alleyn’s. Jon has a particular brief to represent the Alleyn’s staff.

Mrs Laura MalkinAlleyn's Governor Laura Malkin

Position: 

Member of the Finance and General Purposes Committee, the Strategy Committee and the Nominations Committee.

Biography: 

Laura's career has been in the education sector, working with institutions from primary through to post graduate levels, in the UK and the US. Currently, she evaluates and administers bursaries for the Thomas’s Schools Foundation, serves as a governor of Chelsea Academy, a trustee of Wellesley College (US), and on several advisory boards at Harvard University. 

Laura sat on the Alleyn’s Parents’ Association from 2000-2010, during which time she and her husband had four daughters in the School. She also served as APA Chair from 2005-07.

Mr Richard PinckardAlleyn's Governor Richard Pinckard

Position: 

Chair of the Finance and General Purposes Committee and Strategy and Governance Committee. Trustee of the Dulwich Estate.

Biography: 

Richard was educated at Malvern College and the London School of Economics. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG where he has been a partner since 1996 working with many of its major international clients across a wide range of industries. Richard is a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, the UK’s financial reporting regulator. His son and daughter have both attended Alleyn’s and he lives in Dulwich.

Mr Iain PulleyAlleyn's Governor Iain Pulley

Position:

Biography: 

Iain is the Worshipful Company of Saddlers' representative on the Governing Board, following both his father and brother in this role. Iain was Master of the Saddlers' Company 2007-8. A keen athlete in his youth, Iain's original career was in marketing posts at Reader's Digest and Financial Times, after which he co-owned an international legal, business and technical publishing company, later sold to Wolters Kluwer. This included a US subsidiary he had started. Since then, he has built-up a specialist database software business and bureau, mainly for the publishing and media industries. He has also run periodic marketing courses for such organisations as the Periodical Publishers' Association.

MS JENNIFER SCOTTAlleyn's Governor Jennifer Scott

Position:

Biography:

Jennifer took her BA and MA in the History of Art at the Courtauld Institute, University of London. She is a Member of the Board of the Living Paintings Trust, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a Fellow-Commoner of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge.

From 2004-2014 Jennifer was Curator of Paintings at Royal Collection Trust, having previously worked in the curatorial departments of the National Gallery, London and National Museums Liverpool.

Jennifer Scott has been The Sackler Director of Dulwich Picture Gallery since April 2017. She was formerly Director of the Holburne Museum, Bath, where she managed the Museum’s 2016 centenary celebrations, led a high profile acquisition campaign, developed a successful city-wide partnership (Bath Museums Partnership), achieved funding for innovative outreach and community engagement projects and initiated new research leading to the re-attribution of previously overlooked works by Brueghel the Younger and David Teniers the Younger.

MS MICHELLE TERRYAlleyn's Governor Michelle Terry

Position:

Biography:

Michelle was educated at Alleyn’s (1987-1992), then studied Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Before being called to the Bar in 2000, Michelle obtained a Certificate in International Business Practice, after successful completion of the Mountbatten Internship Programme in New York (1998-99).

Michelle co-founded ‘Stepping stones to the future’ (2007 – 2011), a programme providing young people with the tools needed to deal with potential professional and personal challenges, using workshops to develop their presentation and communication skills.

Michelle has worked as a criminal defence advocate at the independent Bar, a Senior Crown Prosecutor for the CPS and a Crown Court advocate for a criminal defence firm.

Michelle is currently a sole practitioner who receives instructions from the Serious Fraud Office, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the CPS. She is also a voluntary advocate for the Communities Empowerment Network, an Inner Temple advocacy trainer and a Mentor.

Miss Tania M TribiusAlleyn's Governor Tania Tribius

Position: 

Member of the Education Committee, Member of the WJ Smith Awards.

Biography: 

Tania was Alleyn’s School’s first Music Scholar and studied at the Guildhall, before reading Law at King’s College, London. A prize winner at School and university, and School Prefect, Tania qualified as a Solicitor in the City, practising as a London Partner for many years.  

Tania is a business owner and Managing Director, having founded Tower Legal Limited in 2003. This professional legal training business supports and protects lawyers in key areas of Risk Management (including Money Laundering, Cybercrime, Bribery and Corruption, and Legal Practice Management).  Having worked with over 2,000 Law Firms in England and Wales, and internationally, over the past 15 years, Tania is also a highly regarded and regular expert speaker at national legal conferences.

Tania is a passionate professional educator of all age groups, having also qualified as a Suzuki violin teacher.

Mr Peter YetzesAlleyn's Governor Peter Yetzes

Position: 

Member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee and the Strategy Committee. Director of Alleyn's School Enterprises Limited and Trustee of the Dulwich Estate.

Biography: 

Peter was educated at Alleyn's from 1960-1968 and was House Captain of Tulley’s. His career was primarily in public sector finance and until 2010 he was a Director of the Audit Commission where he developed the internationally renowned National Fraud Initiative. Peter is currently Executive Chairman of a group of recruitment companies operating in the IT, Nursing and the Education sectors. His son and daughter attended Alleyn’s between 1984 and 1993.

MRS MENNA MCGREGORAlleyn's Governor Menna McGregor

Biography: 

Menna studied law and was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn. She was Clerk to the Mercers' Company from 2008 to 2015, having previously spent 13 years working at the National Theatre. Menna currently holds a number of trusteeships including The Royal Ballet School, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, The National Centre for Early Music, Wilton's Music Hall and the Shakespeare Schools Foundation.
