Author Sam Sedgman Talks to Pupils

We were thrilled to welcome Sam Sedgman into school today to speak to Junior and Lower School pupils about his incredible career. Sam is not only a best-selling author but he is a playwright and an award-winning digital producer.

Another of Sam’s claims to fame is that he was taught English by Ms Lunnon, and indeed acknowledges her in his first book The Highland Falcon Thief, (2020) as well as crediting her with persuading him to read English at University! Ms Lunnon and Sam fitted in a catch-up in the EA Bean over a cup of tea before his talk.

The Highland Falcon Thief won the Books Are My Bag Readers’ Award for Children’s Fiction and also recently scooped the British Book Awards’ prize for Children’s Fiction Book of the Year 2021. Co-written with M.G. Leonard, it was the first instalment of the bestselling series Adventures on Trains.
