Upper School Play: Anything Goes

back to calendar

Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter; Original Book by P.G. Wodehouse & Guy Bolton and Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse; New Book by Timothy Crouse & John Weidman Alleyn’s Upper School presents Cole Porter’s exuberant and delightfully ridiculous Anything Goes. Hop aboard the S.S. American, sailing the Atlantic with a full complement of dancing sailors, outrageous showgirls, hapless gangsters, an idiotic English lord and, of course, the requisite guy and girl who are in love but will have to negotiate the full range of moonlight, song, disguises, dogs and misunderstandings before they reach their harbour. Directed by Jeremy Piper, with musical direction from Luis Parés, choreography by Natalie Demain and a wonderful cast, band and crew from Years 11-13, Anything Goes is an all-singing, all-dancing comedy featuring such splendid numbers as ‘I Get a Kick Out of You’, ‘Blow Gabriel Blow’, ‘You’re the Top’ and of course ‘Anything Goes’!
