Alleyn’s School is a leading co-educational independent day school in Dulwich, London, educating pupils aged 4–18 across its Senior School and two Junior Schools: Alleyn’s Oakfield and Alleyn’s Junior School.
The Drama department’s first lunchtime Open Mic session took place today and was focused on Musical Theatre. The select audience was treated to a range of show tunes from seven talented Year 12 students, from old classics to more recent classic show tunes, piano accompaniment from Darcey Wynter. Here is the line-up:
Honey: Before it's Over from Dogfight
Hattie: Not a Day Goes By from Merrily We Roll Along
Lucy: Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Lara : There are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease
Bede: Fight the Dragons from Big Fish
Lily: Still Hurting from The Last Five Years
Clemmie: Meadowlark from The Baker’s Wife
The concept of the Open Mic sessions is to try out material in the low-stakes, informal atmosphere of our Drama 1 studio.
While it was good practice for the performers it was also such an uplifting treat for those lucky enough to get a seat this lunchtime!
