
November 1 was the start of UK Parliament Week and Alleyn’s Senior School welcomed Helen Hayes, Labour MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, to speak to pupils on Thursday 4 November. After greetings from Head Mrs Lunnon, Year 12 and 13 politics students introduced the Lower School talk and Q&A session in the Great Hall.
On Friday, Lord Anderson of Ipswich KBE QC joined a Teams call with Upper School students to share his experience of being a Crossbench peer in the House of Lords. He answered questions from the class on topics ranging from gun control, anti-terrorism and Facebook encryption to criminal sentencing reform.
