To support pupils’ study of Pride and Prejudice and their understanding of the social context of the novel, the English department arranged for all Year 11s to attend a Regency Dance class as part of their English lessons.
It was patently a fun and relaxed way of getting under the skin of the novel, but it also provided a unique opportunity to understand the social etiquette of Regency balls and the importance of dancing as a means of communication and interaction for young men and women of the period.
Many thanks to Libby Curzon for her spirited instruction on the elegant etiquette of the Regency Ballroom.
We are delighted that Oakfield Prep School will join the Alleyn’s Schools Group as Alleyn’s Oakfield from September 2025. Find out more about this new chapter for junior education in Dulwich.
