Alleyn’s School is a leading co-educational independent day school in Dulwich, London, educating pupils aged 4–18 across its Senior School and two Junior Schools: Alleyn’s Oakfield and Alleyn’s Junior School.
Pupils passing through Reception at Alleyn’s will now see a saddle on a stand, and a diagram detailing all the parts of the saddle. Pupils and staff are invited to examine the construction of the saddle and also to try it out.
While we are all familiar at Alleyn’s with our longstanding association with the Worshipful Company of Saddlers and the support they have offered to our School over five decades, pupils may not have made the connection with the core of what this not for profit company does – regulating the saddlery trade in the United Kingdom.
Mrs Lunnon was keen to do examine the saddle yesterday, along with our archivist, Ms Waddington.
And Mrs Lunnon, like so many pupils passing through Reception recently, couldn't resist trying the saddle herself!
At Alleyn’s Oakfield, every child is nurtured to grow with confidence and curiosity. Occasional vacancies are now open for ages 5+, 6+, 8+, and 10+, with an assured place to Alleyn's Senior School at 11+. Applications close 25 February. Download an application form here
