Visit from Lord Hain

Year 5 were lucky enough to welcome Lord Peter Hain this week, who spoke to the children about his incredible experiences growing up in apartheid era South Africa. His fascinating stories gave us all some incredibly revealing insights into the anti-apartheid struggle and his family’s relationship with Nelson Mandela. Although the days of apartheid are over in South Africa, Lord Hain left the children with the important message that we still need to stand up to prejudice and bullying when we encounter it. An inspirational session for the children.
