Saturday 6th December – 11.00am to 4.00pm
Every year, we open our doors for the Holly Fair - a fun and festive day for the whole community.
Run by the Alleyn's Parents' Association, the Holly Fair is packed with seasonal joy to ready you for the festive season. From shopping stalls and a fantastic prize draw to carols and festive food and drink, there’s something for everyone.
Round up some friends for a visit to the Festive Funfair in the Quad where you'll find crazy golf, a reindeer rodeo and a snowboard simulator.
Younger visitors should head to the Junior School Hall where you can try your luck at hooking a duck, pick the snowman's nose (if you dare) or practice your aim at the snowball throw. The ever popular Silent Disco will also be returning to the Drama studio.
If you’re gearing up for the holidays, you can make your own festive wreath at one of our workshops.
The Holly Fair is an important opportunity to raise funds for our nominated charities. The Senior School’s chosen charities are Link Age Southwark, Oasis St Martin’s Village, The Felix Project and the Alleyn’s Bursary Fund. The Junior School’s chosen charities are Down’s South London and The Big Read. All profits from our Prize Draw are used to fund purchases to help the Albrighton Community Fridge.
Come along to meet representatives from a selection of our charities at the Holly Fair and find out more about their vital work. You can also find more information about the nominated charities in the Charity Partners section below.

COMING SOON
This year we are delighted that the Alleyn’s Parent’s Association has decided to support Link Age Southwark, Oasis St Martin’s Village and The Felix Project. Meanwhile the Alleyn’s Junior School Association has chosen Down’s South London and The Big Read to benefit from the Junior School fund-raising activities.
Each of these charities fulfils a particular aspect of our criteria for selection, either by being local or connected with education and young people. Link Age Southwark, with offices on Tell Grove, enables quality of life and connection between volunteers and vulnerable older people in our immediate area. Oasis St Martin’ Village works with and supports local schools to ensure that no child is excluded from their mainstream educational place. The Felix Project is working to win the fight against food waste and hunger in London. Down’s South London is a parent-run charity offering a unique, specialist early intervention therapy service for babies and young children with Down’s Syndrome and a local support network for their families. The Big Read is a reading initiative at the Junior School that promotes reading to local primary school students through author events and other activities.
We also support the Albrighton Community Fridge, with all profits from the Prize Draw benefiting this project. Each ticket sold goes towards helping those around us who would otherwise not have fresh food or warm meals - so please buy as many as you can and know what a huge difference every ticket makes!
Link Age Southwark
https://www.linkagesouthwark.org/
Link Age Southwark has over 400 volunteers who befriend and give support to over 700 older people in Southwark. Link Age volunteers, often with as little as an hour a week, are able to make an enormous difference to older members of our community.
From one-to-one visits, social exercise and lunch groups, dementia services, volunteer transport and light gardening help, Link Age are at the front line of preventative services for those who may be vulnerable and liable to experience loneliness. Their services are free to any Southwark resident over the age of 60 or living with a diagnosis of dementia. The charity aims to improve the quality of life of older people, particularly their physical and mental health and, in so doing, enable people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Whilst forging intergenerational connections, Link Age prevents an escalation of need and provides human connection and aid to those who may not have family or support nearby.
Oasis St Martin’s Village
https://oasisstmartins.org/
Oasis St Martin’s Village is a group of partner organisations working collaboratively to transform the life opportunities of children and young people struggling in, or not attending, mainstream education. It works with the child or young person’s school to make their education a pleasure by enriching it with art, music, drama, dance, film, catering, horticulture and sport whilst not losing sight of numeracy and literacy. It provides a three-tier system of support, with a strong focus on early intervention: supplementary education, therapeutic support, a nurture programme.
The Felix Project
https://www.thefelixproject.org
The Felix Project believes in a vision of a London where good food is never wasted and no-one goes hungry. It rescues good, surplus food from the food industry that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to hundreds of food banks, charities, primary schools and holiday programmes in London. Last year, it gave out the equivalent of 38 million meals to over 1,200 community organisations and schools across every London borough. 50% of the rescued food is delivered to community organisations within the top 5 most deprived neighbourhoods in the capital.
Down’s South London
https://www.downssouthlondon.org/
Down’s South London launched as a voluntary organisation in 1998. Today, it's a charity that provides a vital service to children with Down's Syndrome (DS) and families in South London. It provides free early intervention multidisciplinary (MDT) therapy provision, available to all children with DS from birth to six years living in the South London catchment area. It offers unique multi-disciplinary therapy, a combination of speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational/sensory therapy.
It is also a family support network, providing much-needed support and information sharing, valuable friendship opportunities for parents/carers, and other social opportunities.
The Big Read
The Big Read is a reading initiative at that promotes reading to local primary school students through author events and other activities. It is spearheaded by the school librarian and was created to promote reading across the local community, involving pupils from Alleyn's Junior School and other local primary schools. It aims to inspire a love of reading by bringing in guest authors and organizing events that engage pupils from different schools in the community.
Albrighton Community Fridge
https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/
The Albrighton Community Fridge is a truly local and remarkable charity. Just five hundred yards from Sainsbury’s on Dog Kennel Hill, the Fridge was set up in 2018 in order to reduce food waste
in the surrounding community and provide small food items, with no charge, to those most in need in our community.
In 2020, it grew to become a Covid Food-Hub and today it’s part of the Hubbub Community Food Network and feeds an average of 350 households a week. As a result of The Albrighton Community Fridge, 450 children and 900 adults locally receive fresh fruit and vegetables, tinned food, hot meals, cold salads for those who cannot afford electricity, frozen meat, toiletries and vital sanitary items too.
