Congratulations to Caleb Nelson (Brading’s 2012) who has been named in the Sunday Times’s inaugural Young Power List.

The impressive list names 25 of the most inspiring people in the UK and Ireland this year who are under 30. The list features artists and entertainers, sportsmen and women dominating their field, entrepreneurs changing the world for the better, tech trailblazers, a political powerhouse and many more.

The winners were chosen by editors across every section at The Sunday Times who selected not just the best young talent but the people who are making a real impact in the world and whose success they believe will endure.

Caleb is a writer and photographer. His 2021 debut novel, Open Water, won the Costa Book Award for First Novel and Caleb is now overseeing a TV adaptation of the novel, which he is also directing. His second novel, Small Worlds, was published in 2023.

In his winner's interview in The Sunday Times, Caleb said:

“At 18, I knew what I wanted to do, but I had no idea how I would get there.”

Offering his advice to other young people pursuing their dreams, he continues:

“Trust yourself. So much of writing for me feels like a trust exercise, and you should really lean into that.”

The full interview and details of all of the 2024 winners can be found on The Sunday Times website here. (Please note, the web page is behind a pay wall).
