Development and Alumni Beyond Alleyn's

A huge thank you to Hinnay Wong (Cribb’s 2015) for returning to Alleyn’s to work with our Foundation Vet Society, which brings together aspiring vets from Years 11–13 at Alleyn’s, Dulwich College and JAGS.

Hinnay gave a fascinating and insightful talk about her journey from Alleyn’s student to veterinary surgeon at PDSA, the UK’s leading vet charity providing care for pets in need. She spoke candidly about her time studying Veterinary Science at Bristol University, the challenges and rewards of her clinical placements, the realities of working in a busy practice and some of the broader themes affecting the sector.

Students were then challenged through an engaging practical session, as Hinnay guided them through a series of real-world veterinary case studies, encouraging discussion and problem-solving as they worked through diagnostic and treatment decisions together.

Georgia in Year 13 said:

"I really enjoyed the vet talk given by Hinnay, especially the scenario questions such as describing a case of a dog with diabetes to us but without telling us that it had the condition, to assess how we responded to such a question. Not only was this evening very beneficial to my interview preparation, it was also very comforting to hear advice from someone I knew had been in the exact same position as me, being an Alleyn's alumni."

Her visit offered an invaluable glimpse into the life of a practicing vet and the many pathways within the profession, inspiring students as they prepare for their own applications and interviews.

A huge thank you to Hinnay for giving her time and experience to support and inspire our students and for continuing to embody the Alleyn’s values of kindness and curiosity!
