This week, as part of the Year 10 Field Day, a group of Alleyn’s students spent two days working alongside pupils at Bessemer Primary School and local artist Natacha Bisarre to design and paint a large-scale mural for the school hall. Inspired by the work of Lakwena Maciver the mural celebrates the school’s values of creativity, community and kindness through a vibrant and colourful design created especially for the space.
The project gave our students the opportunity to collaborate with younger pupils on a meaningful creative endeavour, developing skills in teamwork, communication and leadership while contributing to a lasting feature for the Bessemer community. It was wonderful to see students from both schools working together with such enthusiasm. The mural was led by London-based artist Natacha Bisarre, whose creative career began in dance and performance before expanding into painting, photography and filmmaking. Alongside her own artistic practice, Natacha regularly works with schools and community groups, helping young people to develop ideas collaboratively and bring large-scale artistic projects to life.
