Alleyn’s is proud to have been named Co-educational Independent School of the Year 2025 at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards.
This award holds particular significance as we celebrate 50 years of co-education at Alleyn’s. Since welcoming our first girls in 1975, our commitment to true co-education has gone far beyond simply sharing classrooms. It is about sharing opportunities, perspectives and experiences that enrich every aspect of school life.
At Alleyn’s, boys and girls learn with and from one another in a culture that values empathy, collaboration and respect. The result is a community that reflects the real world our pupils will go on to shape: diverse, dynamic and deeply connected.
“There’s an All in Alleyn’s,” said Head Jane in her acceptance speech. “It’s our astonishing community that makes this school what it is, the phenomenal staff, our extraordinary leadership team, and above all, our tremendous, fun, funny and optimistic young people. They are the reason we are here today, and the hope for tomorrow.”
The recognition comes at the end of a record-breaking year for our pupils. 81% of A Level grades were awarded A or A*, and 50 GCSE pupils achieved nine or more Grade 9s. Alleyn’s also ranks in the top 8% of independent schools nationally for value added, reflecting the progress and achievement of every individual, whatever their starting point.
Yet our measure of success is wider than numbers. Through our AiQ curriculum, pupils develop intellectual agility, emotional intelligence and creative confidence. These are the skills that will serve them long after they leave the classroom.
At Alleyn’s, every pupil is encouraged to find themselves, to discover new passions, pursue their purpose and build a sense of who they truly are. Whether on stage, in the lab, on the sports field or through service and adventure, our pupils learn to be open-minded, grounded and kind.
As we look ahead to the next chapter of Alleyn’s story, this award is both an honour and an inspiration to continue nurturing a community where every young person can grow, belong and thrive.
