What a fantastic way to finish Year 8!

Last week, 169 Year 8 students and 20 amazing staff travelled to beautiful Croyde in North Devon for an unforgettable residential trip. Blessed with glorious sunshine throughout the week, students enjoyed the perfect conditions to make the most of the stunning coastline, golden beaches and crystal-clear sea.

The trip also provided an exciting opportunity for students to meet and get to know their new House groups ahead of next year. Moving away from their Year 8 form groups, students quickly built new friendships, worked together as teams and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm.

The action-packed programme offered something for everyone. Students tackled the obstacle course, tested their balance and confidence during paddleboarding and kneeboarding sessions, and enjoyed catching waves while surfing. Coasteering proved to be a particular highlight, with students scrambling over rocks, jumping into the sea and exploring the coastline. Swimming in the sea and taking part in House volleyball competitions added even more fun to the week.

One of the most popular activities was the water park, where students bounced, climbed and splashed their way through a series of inflatable challenges. Ringo rides were another highlight, bringing plenty of laughter and excitement and creating memories that will last for years to come.

Throughout the trip, students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, resilience, courage and support for one another. Whether trying a new activity for the first time or encouraging their House teammates, they represented the school brilliantly.

A huge thank you goes to our 20 dedicated staff members, whose enthusiasm, organisation and support helped make the trip such a success.

With sunshine, waves, adventure and new friendships, the Croyde residential was the perfect way to celebrate the end of Year 8 and begin the journey with new House groups. It is a trip that students and staff alike will remember for a long time to come.
