We were delighted to welcome back alumna Martina King (Spurgeon’s 2024) this week when she returned to Townley Road to share her Cambridge Computer Science insights with current students.
Martina, who was Vice School Captain during her time at Alleyn’s, is now studying Computer Science at the University of Cambridge. She offered insightful advice on what it is like to pursue the subject at degree level and shared valuable tips with students considering following a similar path.
The students were especially interested in hearing about the Oxbridge application process, and Martina generously answered questions about her own experience, offering guidance on preparation, interviews and how to make the most of opportunities at school.
Students also enjoyed hearing about life at Cambridge, with Martina providing a glimpse into the demands and rewards of studying Computer Science at one of the world’s leading universities, while also making the most of university life beyond her degree, getting stuck into both netball and sailing.
It was a real pleasure to welcome Martina back to Alleyn’s, and we are so grateful to her for inspiring students with her honesty and encouragement. Thank you, Martina!
