We were absolutely delighted to welcome back alumna and professional musician Rianna Henriques (Brading’s 2019) on Monday, 29 September when she returned to Alleyn's to support Music students as part of the judging process for the Alleyn’s Woodwind Competition.
Throughout the day, Rianna listened to close to 40 of Alleyn’s woodwind musicians as they showcased their talents across instruments from flute to alto sax and oboe, offering inspiration and tailored advice to pupils on their performances and supporting the Music Department with the difficult task of judging the competition. She was very impressed with the standard of pupils' performance.
A fast-rising multi-instrumentalist and former W.J. Smith Award winner, Rianna is already making her mark on international stages, performing at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and Wigmore Hall, and collaborating with major artists including Raye.
It was a real pleasure to welcome Rianna back to Alleyn’s. We are so proud of her achievements and incredibly grateful to her for giving back to Alleyn's pupils and her former teachers who have supported her in her journey. Rianna is pictures here alongside her photograph on our Always Alleyn’s Alumni wall, which proudly celebrates the achievements of our alumni across diverse fields.
Thank you, Rianna, for inspiring the next generation of Alleyn’s musicians!
