Development and Alumni

On Thursday 1 May, the spirit of Alleyn’s was alive and well in the heart of Durham, as alumni from across the North East gathered for a memorable evening of reconnection, conversation, and celebration.

Hosted by Frank Keenan, Director of Development and Alumni Relations and former Alleyn’s Senior Deputy Head, Andy Skinnard, the event brought together a mix of former students at the lively Tango Social Bar and Kitchen. From the buzz of current university life to the insights of professional life, the room was filled with stories and shared memories.

It was brilliant to catch up with recent leavers, now navigating their first year of university—studying everything from Psychological and Behavioural Science to Physics and Astronomy—mingled with alumni now settled in the region. Among them was Dr Laura Channing (Spurgeon’s 2012), now a Professor of Economic History at Durham University. It was a wonderful surprise when she discovered that one of her future students, Max Bavinton (Brading’s 2024), was also at the reunion—proof that the Alleyn’s connection continues to create new chapters.

The evening was filled with stories of university adventures, career milestones, and travel tales. And it was brilliant to see Alleyn’s friendships remain so strong.

A huge thank you to everyone who made it. We love bringing alumni together and we arrange events throughout the year. To find out what’s coming up, keep an eye on the Always Alleyn’s events section on our website. And if you are in the area, alumni are always warmly welcome back to Townley Road. We would love to see you!
