Students recently attended Hamlet at the National Theatre, and it proved to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. Here is a review by Ideh F, Year 12:
On Monday evening, English and Drama A-Level students enjoyed a visit to see Hamlet at the National Theatre. Pupils particularly enjoyed the character of Ophelia, whose incredible performance left a strong impression of this often-underutilised character, particularly in her emotional breakdown. The comedy of Hiran Abeysekera’s portrayal of Hamlet was also a highlight, bringing a more light-hearted element to the tragedy. With its themes of grief, revenge and corruption, it made for both entertaining and educational viewing for both students currently studying the play and those who will study it next year.
