At Alleyn’s, we have a very lively Warhammer Club, with students ranging from Year 7 to Year 13. This week, Hadi (Year 7 spent the session finishing a model he has devoted a great deal of time to painting.
Hadi shared: “This is my favourite model because I like the way it’s shaped. It’s a Carnifex Brood, and it is part of the Tyranid army set within the Warhammer game universe.”
When asked about the colour scheme he used, he explained: “I originally picked them because I thought the silver really pops against the pink, and I have painted my whole army in custom colours.”
At Warhammer Club, we encourage students to embody the ROCCK values, support one another, and think creatively about their projects. Hadi has demonstrated all of these qualities, both in his interactions with other club members and in his painting.
When asked why he enjoys painting miniature models, he said: “I do it because I really love the results and the satisfaction after you finish painting a model.”
As the staff leader of this group, Head of AV, Aaron Thompson, believe it is important to recognise that model painting can act as a form of art therapy. It allows for free expression while also having a long-term impact on how we perceive, process, retain, and share information - something incredibly valuable for our young minds at Alleyn’s.
Warhammer Club takes place every Thursday from 13:20 to 14:00 in room 010 - all are welcome to join!
