Frank Keenan, Director of Development and Alumni Relations - 5th XI football coach, alongside our Year 13 student Alex, a dedicated 5th XI stalwart, will be taking on the London Marathon this Sunday. While they are used to being on the same team, race day may introduce a new dynamic as they go head-to-head on the streets of London!
Alex, will be running as part of “Team Alex” in support of the Bone Cancer Research Trust. His journey to the start line is extraordinary. Diagnosed with a rare bone tumour condition at just 10 months old, Alex has undergone 20 surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. Yet his determination has never wavered.
Now, he takes on the London Marathon not just as a personal challenge, but to raise funds and awareness for others facing similar battles - see more here.
Frank is running in support of St Christopher’s Hospice, aiming to raise vital funds for the charity’s outstanding end-of-life care.
A committed marathon runner, he is targeting a sub-three-hour finish and hopes to raise £1,000 for every hour he is out on the course - follow his progress here.
We wish them the very best of luck - and will be cheering them both on!
