It has been an outstanding week for the CCF last week, with over 200 attendees across all activities. This included 155 cadets, 11 committed staff, and of course Myrtle, our regimental goat, all attending Mereworth Woods. Meanwhile, our Cadre cadets and NCOs were training on site at Alleyn’s.
On Wednesday, the Alleyn’s School Rifle Team competed in the annual Country Life National Small-Bore Postal Competition. Notably, our team of five was entirely female in a mixed competition. The team shot brilliantly, with particularly strong performances from Captain Lavitta and Year 12 pupil Kira. A fantastic achievement - well done to all involved.
The Year 10 cadets completed a challenging overnight exercise, developing their 1*–2* fieldcraft skills through harbour occupation, platoon operations, and pairs fire and manoeuvre. Despite wind and rain, they showed impressive resilience, with morale remaining high throughout.
Our Year 9 cadets took part in a highly successful Field Day at Mereworth Woods, developing key fieldcraft skills including navigation, basha building, stalk, casualty evacuation, and outdoor cooking. Their behaviour, teamwork, and enthusiasm were excellent throughout.
Meanwhile, our Year 11 Cadre undertook an intensive day covering tactical principles, leadership, fitness, orders, a mock exercise, and rifle drill. The day was delivered to a high standard by our NCOs, whose planning and instruction were exemplary.
A huge thank you to all our cadets for their positive attitude and excellent conduct, to our NCOs for delivering such high-quality training, and to our staff team for their continued hard work and dedication. It has been a highly successful week, and we are incredibly proud of everyone’s efforts.
