We are delighted to congratulate one of our talented Year 13 students, Sofia, who has been Highly Commended in the national Oxford University Flash Fiction Competition. Out of more than 800 students across the UK, she was one of only a handful in the Years 12-13 category to receive this recognition for her original short story in French, a remarkable achievement!
This prestigious competition invites students to showcase their creativity, language skills and cultural awareness through written entries in French or Spanish. Taking part not only extends learning beyond the classroom, but also builds confidence, independence and the ability to express complex ideas, all invaluable skills for A Level study and beyond.
We are thrilled to see Sofia’s commitment and endeavour rewarded, and we encourage all students to make the most of similar opportunities across their A Level subjects. Competitions such as this provide an excellent chance to challenge yourself, explore your interests more deeply, try something new and gain experiences that will stand out, for example on a university application.
Look out for Sofia’s winning piece in the next edition of the MFL magazine, The Polyglot Papers.
