Today’s Charity Lip Sync saw the Houses take to the stage with flair, fun and full commitment, after two weeks of dedicated rehearsals. Performing across two themed routines, Musicals and Valentine’s-inspired love songs, up to 30 pupils from Years 9–13 represented each House, delivering energetic, inventive and often hilarious performances.
Judged on their ability to lip sync in perfect time, showcase a mix of ages and genders, and bring songs to life through expressive facial expression, body language and connection with both one another and the audience, the standard was impressively high. Our judges had the unenviable task of selecting the winners from such a strong and varied field, while Year 13 comperes kept the crowd entertained between acts.
There were standout moments everywhere: Duttons had the hall on its feet with Footloose before switching gears to the Spice Girls; Cribbs soared through Whitney Houston before racing into Grease Lightning; Tysons brought serious star quality with Taylor Swift’s Style, with huge crowd reactions; Spurgeons embraced the global party spirit with International Love; Bradings channelled pure Mamma Mia! energy with a show-stopping Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!; Browns brought big musical character with a number from Hairspray; and Tulleys lit up the stage with Dua Lipa’s No Lie.
In the end, Duttons took first place, followed by Cribbs and Ropers, but the real victory was the atmosphere - joyful, inclusive and brilliantly entertaining. With every ticket contributing to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Sparrow Schools, the event combined creativity and comedy with genuine impact.
