Year 13 Hispanists recently enjoyed a fascinating visit to the Cervantes Institute in central London, where they conducted in-depth research for their Independent Research Projects (IRPs) - a key component of their final oral examinations.

The trip offered pupils the chance to dive into a rich collection of Spanish-language resources, from academic articles and magazines to e-books, helping them deepen their understanding of diverse and complex topics. Their areas of focus included the CIA’s intervention in Guatemala, the environmental and social effects of lithium extraction in Chile, and the political impact of President Bukele in El Salvador.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to immerse themselves in authentic materials, refine their research skills, and bring their studies to life beyond the classroom.
