Year 8 have been exploring what defines a cuisine, starting by studying the characteristics of British food before researching and creating a dish from an international cuisine of their choice. This week’s cookery competition showcased an exceptional standard of work, with students demonstrating remarkable technical skill, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen.

Standout dishes included roast duck with dauphinoise potatoes, salmon en croûte, arancini with arrabbiata sauce, steamed Chinese dumplings, and chicken tikka masala with cauliflower and handmade chapati.

The competition was full of energy and excitement, with students eagerly sharing their inspirations, techniques, and final creations. The Food and Nutrition Department couldn’t be prouder of the students’ achievements and the way they brought their chosen cuisines to life.
