Multicultural Week at Alleyn’s was a vibrant celebration of the many cultures, traditions and perspectives that make up our school community. Across the week, pupils, staff, govenors and guests came together through music, fashion, food, dance and reflection, highlighting the power and joy of diversity.

A central theme of the week was the importance of multicultural societies. In our Whole School Assembly, pupils and staff discussed Multicultural Week and explored why diversity matters, highlighting the role that multicultural communities play in shaping a more inclusive, understanding and connected society.

Lunchtimes became hubs of culture and curiosity. The Multicultural Fashion Show brought together over 100 Junior and Senior School pupils, alongside staff, who proudly showcased cultural outfits, traditional dress and flag-inspired accessories. With two showings for Junior and Senior School audiences, the fashion show was a joyful expression of heritage, creativity and shared pride in our identities.

Exploring culture through flavour, the Global Tea Tasting invited pupils and staff to sample teas from Morocco, Spain, the Baltic States, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Japan. From bold and fragrant blends to light and soothing flavours, the tasting offered a simple yet meaningful way to experience different cultures and spark conversation.

Music and movement also played a key role throughout the week. The Quad was filled with energy as pupils and staff enjoyed music from our very own DJ Showers, while later dance sessions brought the community together in a shared celebration. A lively global dance experience, led by Anita Makwana of Discover Dance UK, encouraged everyone to join in, creating moments of connection and joy. Anita also concluded the International Evening with an uplifting dance session that brought the event to a memorable close.

Multicultural Week was a powerful reminder that Alleyn’s is a community made up of many cultures, languages and stories. Through shared experiences and collective celebration, the week highlighted that diversity is not only something we recognise, but something that enriches and strengthens our school every day.
