Alleyn’s swim squad made serious waves at the World School Swimming Championships this weekend, bringing home medals, breaking records, and demonstrating incredible team spirit both in and out of the pool.

From powerhouse performances to standout sportsmanship, it was a weekend to remember. Nancy, Manisha, Heidi, and Katya (Junior School) dominated the team events, claiming first in the Medley Relay and second in the Freestyle Relay. Katya even stepped up from the Junior School to swim in an older age group after a last-minute dropout - an act of courage that set the tone for a weekend defined by grit and heart.

Several swimmers delivered exceptional performances throughout the meet, notching personal bests, podium finishes, and school records tumbling. Nancy had an outstanding meet: she won gold in the 50m Backstroke and bronze in the 200IM, and broke two school records, one of which had been held by Olympian Zara Long. Despite exhaustion, she also qualified for the 50m Freestyle final and chose to compete anyway, a testament to her resilience and drive.

Leo impressed in the boys’ events, finishing second in the 100m Breaststroke, breaking the school record, and claiming gold in the 50m on Sunday. Kit qualified for two finals and placed an impressive fourth in the 100m Backstroke, while Katya, in her sensational debut, shattered the 50m Breaststroke school record. Leo, Nancy, Kit, and Katya all deserve special recognition - not only for their achievements in the pool but for the example they set as athletes and teammates throughout the competition.

In a thrilling moment, both Manisha and Nancy broke the school record for the 200m Freestyle in the same race. Heidi swam strongly to qualify for the 100m Freestyle final, and Manisha secured fourth place in the 100m Butterfly.

But the weekend wasn’t just about fast times and podium finishes. Coaches praised Manisha, Nancy, and Heidi for the care and encouragement they showed Katya as she swam up a year group to fill a gap in the relay team. Their leadership and kindness perfectly embodied the true Alleyn’s spirit.

Between the medals, record-breaking swims, and extraordinary team, this was one of Alleyn’s finest weekends.
