Head of Alleyn’s Jane Lunnon and her twin sister, Head of City of London Girls’ Jenny Brown speak about their journeys to leadership and their shared inspiration on a special episode of Women of the Future Podcast to mark International Friendship Day.
In a wide-ranging and uplifting conversation, the sisters reflected on their parallel careers in education and the strength of their lifelong bond. Though they have each followed paths to leadership in education, they shared how their journeys have never felt competitive, describing instead a “fantastic unit” built on mutual admiration, pride and deep-rooted affection.
As the first female Head of Alleyn’s, Jane Lunnon spoke about the importance of values-led leadership and the centrality of kindness in schools. “Kindness is one of the core values of this school,” she shared, “and should be at the heart of education anywhere. The great joy of being alive is to connect with people.”
Together, the sisters reflected on how education is as much about connection as it is about curriculum. “It’s the space between that is more important in the end, that’s where kindness is generated and bred.”
The podcast treats us to moments of fun and nostalgia, including a light-hearted quiz where the sisters guessed each other’s favourite books, teachers, and childhood memories, offering glimpses into the love and humour that define their bond.
The episode celebrates leadership, family, and the role of human connection in education and in everyday life, a fitting tribute to International Friendship Day.
Heartfelt wishes for International Friendship Day from all of us at Alleyn’s!
