We are proud to welcome Yesomi Umolu (Spurgeon's 2002) as the newest member of the Alleyn’s Board of Governors. A globally respected curator, educator and cultural strategist, Yesomi brings exceptional creativity, insight and leadership to the role, along with a deep personal connection to the Alleyn’s community.

After joining Alleyn’s Sixth Form on a scholarship, Yesomi embraced every opportunity the School offered, balancing her love of the arts with her curiosity for design and ideas. Those two years proved transformative, sparking a journey that has taken her to some of the world’s leading cultural institutions.

Today, Yesomi’s career spans continents and disciplines. She has held senior roles including Director of Curatorial Affairs and Public Practice at the Serpentine, Artistic Director of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, and Director and Curator at the University of Chicago’s Logan Center Exhibitions. She now works as an independent consultant, advising museums, architects and philanthropic organisations on innovative cultural programmes and strategies.

Beyond her curatorial work, Yesomi plays a key role in shaping the future of the arts, serving as Vice Chair of the Horniman Museum and Gardens and as a member of the British Council’s Arts and Creative Economy Advisory Group.

Yesomi’s appointment to the Alleyn’s Board reflects her lifelong commitment to creativity, diversity and education, values that lie at the heart of the Alleyn's mission. We are delighted to welcome her back and look forward to the imagination, expertise and global perspective she will bring to Alleyn’s.
