A brand-new initiative has launched in the Lower School this term, the Friendship Behaviour Initiators (or FBI for short). Made up of 13 thoughtful Year 8 pupils, the FBI team is all about supporting our new Year 7s as they settle into school life and helping to build a community rooted in kindness, connection, and confidence.
The name, Friendship Behaviour Initiators, was chosen by the pupils themselves, with the eye-catching logo designed by Louis H (Year 8). The group was formed after pupils applied for the role at the end of last year, going through an interview process before being selected. They’ve already been putting their leadership and empathy into practice, having supported on New Pupil Day and helping to welcome new starters on their very first morning of term.
This week marked their first official FBI activity in form time, the start of what will be an evolving and exciting project. Year 8s will be spending time getting to know their Year 7 peers, taking small groups out of form to chat more personally about how they’re settling in, what they need, and what’s on their minds.
Beyond these sessions, the FBI are also taking on an informal but important role around the school, keeping an eye out at break and lunch to make sure no one is sitting on their own and that everyone feels included.
It’s early days for the Friendship Behaviour Initiators, but already it’s clear this team of 13 compassionate Year 8s are helping to make the Lower School an even warmer and more welcoming place for everyone.
