This week’s Student Voice meeting was smaller than usual, with only Year 8 pupils in attendance due to a busy schedule of sport, drama, and other co-curricular commitments. But what the group lacked in numbers, they made up for in enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and a real sense of community spirit.
Pupils raised a number of practical suggestions to improve day-to-day school life, including ideas around changing room access, uniform options for Dance and Drama, and how revision and exam weeks could be made even more productive and supportive for everyone. There was also a request for clarity around certain expectations during exam sessions, showing how invested pupils are in creating a fair and focused learning environment for all.
One particularly creative proposal was for a Lower School craft stall at Founder’s Day, where pupils could sell handmade items and raise money for a chosen charity - an idea that reflects the group’s wider sense of responsibility.
Alongside the suggestions, pupils shared plenty of positive reflections. The calm and structured exam environment was praised, and the revision guide, especially the subject-specific checklists, was described as a genuinely helpful tool.
As always, the views shared during Student Voice will be passed on to the relevant staff and teams. It was clear from the quality of the conversation that even a small group of pupils can generate meaningful ideas and thoughtful feedback. Their enthusiasm and willingness to engage in improving school life demonstrates the value of pupil voice at Alleyn’s.
